Following its live announcement on Afternoon Hits on Saturday the 26th of September, the conclusion of the monthly chart show is now being formally confirmed as of Friday the 9th of October.

The decision to bring The Monthly Big Top 15 to a close was originally announced in August, following continued scheduling difficulties and a number of episodes taking place without Leon. While the show had continued to be an important part of the schedule, maintaining it in its existing format was ultimately no longer sustainable.

A proper ending:

Rather than allowing the show to continue with increasingly inconsistent episodes, the decision was made to give The Monthly Big Top 15 a proper conclusion.

As was explained during the live announcement on Afternoon Hits, the decision was not made lightly. The show had become a recognisable part of the station's programming, but the ongoing difficulties surrounding scheduling and availability made it increasingly difficult to deliver the feature to the standard expected.

The conclusion therefore marks the end of the feature in its current form, rather than leaving its future uncertain or continuing to miss episodes.

Thank you:

We would like to thank everyone who has listened to, supported and contributed to The Monthly Big Top 15 throughout its run.

That includes our listeners, affiliate stations, guest hosts and everyone who helped make each edition possible. The support received throughout the show's run has been greatly appreciated.

In particular, we would like to thank Leon for his involvement with the show and for everything he contributed to The Monthly Big Top 15.

What's next?:

Although The Monthly Big Top 15 has now concluded, this is not necessarily the end of the road for those involved.

Leon is currently developing a new syndicated show, which is expected to provide a new opportunity to hear him on air in a different format.

For now, however, the chapter belonging to The Monthly Big Top 15 is officially closed.

Official confirmation:

While the show's conclusion was announced live on Afternoon Hits on Saturday the 26th of September, today marks the official confirmation of its conclusion.

Thank you to everyone who made The Monthly Big Top 15 part of their listening routine. Its run may be over, but the memories created along the way will remain an important part of its history.

The Monthly Big Top 15 has officially come to an end.

Kind regards,
